One toddler defied all the odds and spent Christmas with her family just months after doctors turned off her life support system.
Bella Moore-Williams was just 18-months-old when she became seriously ill while on a family holiday. Her family rushed her to hospital after her legs stopped moving and she began falling in and out of consciousness.

After a week in intensive care, Bella’s life support was switched off and the family gathered around her hospital bed.
“The whole family came in one by one to say their goodbyes,” Bella’s mom, Francesca, told the Mirror UK. “I just kept sitting there thinking ‘why us?’ It was heart wrenching.”
As the monitors went quiet, doctors and her family were shocked when the little girl began breathing on her own some 20 minutes later. Then she started kicking and screaming, fighting for her life!

Doctors changed everything and began to try and keep her alive. They later diagnosed Bella with a rare genetic condition; she has a Biotinidase deficiency, a condition wherein her body doesn’t produce enough of the vital vitamin biotin which essential for healthy cell growth. It is fatal if untreated, but it can be managed with medication.

Five months later, Bella continues to improve. She is beginning to walk and talk and although she is several months behind developmentally, she is expected to catch up.

“Never in a million years thought we’d be sat here together as a family, counting down the sleeps till Christmas day,” Francesca told ITV News.
With the extended family is all coming over, they can’t wait to celebrate the holidays with Bella.
