Teen Runner Breaks Leg But His Teammate Makes Sure He Finishes The Race

“I believe everyone should finish.” That’s how cross country runner Sean Rausch describes his act of true sportsmanship that has gained nationwide attention. The young teen helped his injured teammate finish a race after the young man stumbled towards the finish line.

Blake Lewis, a junior at Riverton High School in Utah, recalled the excruciating sound of his leg bone snapping with only 200 meters left in the state championship meet. “During the race I felt fine, but just at the last part I did not feel good,” Lewis told Inside Edition.

Seeing Blake collapse, Sean stopped in his tracks and lifted him onto his back before carrying him for the remainder of the race. Although both runners crossed the finish line, they were disqualified due to a rule that runners are not allowed to touch each other in a race, but Sean doesn’t mind if that’s the reason. He wasn’t about to leave his friend behind.
