A dog who hurt her dew claw has gone viral after her veterinarian Dr. Thomas Hamilton shared a video on TikTok of her at his office.
In the sweet video, the Labrador Retriever lifts her paw for Dr. Hamilton, who is sitting on the floor of his surgery so he can take a look at her injury.
“It’s actually the other paw,” Hamilton can be heard saying. The dog isn’t too interested in showing the vet her hurt paw, but she eventually agrees and lets him look it over.
Thankfully, the dog’s dew claw wasn’t pulled out or broken, rather it was strained. Dr. Hamilton captioned the video: “This patient wanted to cooperate. Her dew claw got caught on something and resulted in acute lameness that appears to be getting better. The patient was not licking at the nail and the nail was not fractured. Some rest and non-steroidals and we were on our way!”
Users on TikTok praised Dr. Hamilton’s bedside manner. One person wrote, “Amazing vet!! The first time I saw a vet sit on the floor with my dog, I never wanted another to treat her.”

It’s so important that dogs trust their vet as it makes examinations go so much better and it definitely puts the dogs’ humans at ease too. Dr. Hamilton has a knack for this, as another video he did of him comforting a scared dog went viral a few months ago. You can watch that sweet video here.
