US Embassy Accidentally Invites People To Cat Pajama Party

The U.S. embassy in Australia is apologizing for a “training error” that resulted in an invitation for a cat pajama party being sent out by accident.

The embassy in Canberra sent out an email invitation entitled “meeting” to an unknown number of recipients. But what caught everyone’s attention was the attachment – a photo of a cat wearing blue pajamas holding a plate of cookies.

Embassy spokesman Gavin Sundwall told the Australian Associated Press that the email was a training error.

“Sorry to disappoint those of you who were hoping to attend this ‘cat pyjama-jam’ party, but such an event falls well outside our area of expertise,” Embassy spokesman Gavin Sundwall said in the apology.

The embassies that received the email in error responded with good humor.

The cat in the photo is Joey, and lives in Melbourne. His human Jennifer Stewart dresses up her cats in onesies for her Instagram account. All the attention did not go unnoticed by Joey.

“Joey’s upset that the cat pajama-jam won’t be happening,” Jennifer said.
