Artists Jason Hallman and Stephen Stum have combined their love of canvas and sculpture together to create very unusual paintings made from canvas itself!
By folding strips of canvas into various looped shapes and then balance it on its edge to create a 3-dimensional scroll work, much like a line drawing. For added excitement the canvas pieces are painted in vibrant colors. The artists (who combined their names for “Stallman Studios”) appropriately call their latest series “Canvas on Edge”.
The duo says that they find inspiration from patterns in cellular biology and gradients in the natural world.
The resulting art pieces are fascinating and beautiful to look at!
