Julie Saraceno is a shelter volunteer for Benton Franklin Humane Society in the Tri-Cities. She has seen a lot of dogs come and go. But one dog had been at the shelter for 664 days. Snoopy is a lovable senior dog but because of his health complications he was constantly overlooked by potential adopters.
She would often walk by his kennel and catch him sucking on his security blanket for comfort. It’s a way for him to self soothe. “It comforts him,” Julie said.
At close to 10 years old, Julie knew it was time to put the spotlight on the shelter’s longtime resident and staff favorite.

Julie decided to try and do what she could to find him a forever family and began to regularly share videos of him on social media.

She took him on day walks and brought him the donations that poured in from around the world and explained that he has Cushings disease.

But he really is the sweetest dog.

Julie’s hard work paid off as his videos went viral and caught the attention of Forgotten Dogs Rescue.
The rescue wrote on TikTok, “We kept seeing her videos of Snoopy, a senior pittie with medical issues who had been in the shelter for two years, and we knew we needed to help. The shelter staff and volunteers have taken amazing care of him and love him so much, but he deserves to be in a home!”
So they arranged to pull him from the shelter.

Snoopy left the shelter with much fanfare and made his way to a temporary foster home while the rescue looked for a longer term foster for him in the greater Seattle area. “He is such a sweet, lovable, and funny boy,” they wrote of Snoopy.
Julie drove Snoopy to his foster home and shared a video of him on his freedom ride. He couldn’t wait to get into the car.

Since Snoopy has arrived in their care, Forgotten Dogs Rescue has been sorting out some of his medical needs, tending to his skin issues and other health issues.
They shared an update on Snoopy in his temporary foster home saying, “Snoopy is doing great in his foster home. He’s making himself right at home.” That’s evident in the video when he jumps on the couch!

Fortunately, Forgotten Dogs Rescue found a long term foster for him. He isn’t up for adoption quite yet but he’s having a wonderful time in his new neighborhood, going on walks and of course he has his favorite Snoopy blanket to cuddle with.

It’s so important that dogs like Snoopy get noticed and it’s so wonderful that Julie was able to get him out of the shelter and into the hands of a loving rescue who will make sure he has the most wonderful golden years.
