Meet the rescued Bahamian raccoon called Pumpkin and her friends, Royal Bahamian Potcake rescue dogs, Toffee and Oreo.
Pumpkin fell out of a tree in a family’s backyard when she was just a few days old. They watched as the baby raccoon struggled on the ground, but they waited to see if her parents would come and get her. But no adult raccoons appeared.
Her adoptive human family called wildlife officials, who told them that the baby raccoon was too young to survive in the wild without its mother. They could not bear to watch the little creature die in their backyard, so they brought her inside and began nursing her back to health.
Pumpkin lives in the Bahamas, where raccoons do not have any rabies and there is no law against keeping them.

Pumpkin’s family successfully nursed pumpkin through infancy. She’s now a year old.
Their dogs, Toffee and Oreo, fell in love with her.
Oreo and Pumpkin especially have a special bond.
Pumpkin gets regular vet checkups just like the Toffee and Oreo.
She thinks she’s one of them!
Oreo took care of Pumpkin when she was sick. Nothing a few kisses from her sisters couldn’t heal!
Raccoons can be quite curious and destructive.
They’re also highly intelligent animals.
Pumpkin is potty trained, although you can’t tell from this photo.
The best flowers are the ones that come from the pool.

Pumpkin’s family did not want to have a raccoon as a pet (raccoons are wild animals, after all), but they are happy they saved her life and intend to do what is best for her. For now she is happy to be with them and with her friends Oreo and Toffee.
