Puppy Rescued After Video Surfaces Of Her Being Cruelly Thrown To The Ground

How could anyone hurt such a sweet, sweet puppy? That’s what animal rescuers are asking after they saved a puppy that was cruelly thrown to the ground by a young man. The terrible incident was filmed in Manitoba, Canada and after the video surfaced on social media, police quickly tracked down the individual and the dog.

RCMP officers began investigating the incident on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 after the video was posted online showing a man throwing the German Shepherd in the air and letting her hit the ground. Officers arrested an 18-year-old man from Easterville and has charged him with animal cruelty. There is no word at present if the person who took the video is facing any charges.

The puppy was “not moving and unable to walk” when community volunteers found her and she has since been taken to Manitoba Underdogs Rescue (MUR) to be treated.

The puppy has been named “Asha”, meaning “life and hope”.

“This video is beyond disgusting,” Jessica Hansen, executive director with MUR told CTV. “There is no excuse for any living thing to endure that kind of horror. We are hoping and praying that our talented veterinary partners will be able to help.”

Asha was taken to the Winnipeg Animal Emergency Hospital. When Asha arrived, the hospital said, “She is in good spirits despite what she’s been through, giving kisses and wagging her tail! We don’t know the full extent of her injuries as of yet. She is an extremely adorable puppy, we’re all crossing our fingers for her!”

They also shared a short clip of Asha when she first arrived at their clinic. “She was very curious about the nearby playing kittens! She’s now resting cozy in her kennel after a very long day.”

She is now being transported to vet specialists for further testing. Anyone wishing to make a donation for her medical care can do so at Manitoba Underdogs Rescue.

It’s been a little over a year when the disturbing video of Asha surfaced online. “With cruelty like this, we are thankful that dogs live in the moment, and this puppy has no memory or recollection of what happened to her,” Manitoba Underdogs Rescue wrote in an update a year after her rescue. “Her abuser was charged and was sentenced to jail,” they added.
