Jack Black Visits Ugandan Boy Living On Streets As Part Of Red Nose Day Campaign

Actor-comedian Jack Black sat down with boy living on the streets and what he found out is absolutely heartbreaking. Red Nose Day is a campaign dedicated to raising money for children and young people living in poverty by simply having fun and making people laugh. As part of their inaugural campaign this year, Black travelled to Uganda and met with Felix. Felix is a 12-year-old orphaned boy living in poverty.

He talks to Black about how he lost his mother at a young age and does not know where his father is. He has siblings but he does not know where they are. He moved to the city, where for the past 3 years he’s lived on the streets, collecting garbage to make something to feed himself.

As Black follows the boy on his daily routine, he fights back tears seeing the conditions the boy is growing up in. When he asks Felix what he wants, the boy has a clear goal. He wants to go to school. He sees it as the path for him to get off the streets. “He wants an education, and I think that’s not a lot to ask,” the actor says. It does seem unfathomable that children are living like this. Yet, there are up to 150 million children living in the streets just like Felix all over the world.
