These retired race horses are finding a renewed purpose in life by helping veterans deal with the invisible scars of war. The unique program is called Saratoga War Horse and teaches veterans from across the United States how to communicate with a horse.
“Whatever emotions I had, whatever I was feeling, at that time inside the ring, I was able to leave it there,” said one veteran. “I passed through the gate and I felt that I didn’t have to carry it anymore.”
