Brave Dog Scares Away Armed Robber At Tobacco Shop

Hobby the dog is being called a hero after he saved his owner from an armed robbery at a tobacco shop in Manosque, France on July 1, 2016.

David Bremond was getting ready to close his shop and was throwing out the garbage when a man wearing black and a white mask charged at him holding a gun.

“I went outside to put the garbage out around 18:45 pm. When I looked up, I saw a man with an anonymous type mask and a gun after the hand, Bremond told BFMTV. My brain immediately realized that it was a robbery.”

The man threatened Bremond and pushed him towards the cash register behind the counter. But what the thief did not realize was that the merchant’s 4-year-old Belgian Malinois, Hobby, slept there.

“I called him, I yelled, I launched him,” said Bremond. Bremond said that he has trained Hobby since he was 3 months old to one year and a half years old in “sports training, [and] a little bit of defense.”

Hobby charged the robber and took him off guard. The robber was so surprised that he ran outside with Hobby clamped down on the robber’s bag and arm.

A CCTV camera caught the dramatic minute on film. Bremond and Hobby chased after the assailant and Hobby didn’t let go, but the robber managed to break loose and run to a getaway car. Unfortunately, Bremond was unable to read the license plate. Fortunately, Hobby released the robber and was not hurt.
