Caitlin Strischek was terrified when she saw her apartment building go up in flames knowing that her 7-year-old dog Marley was trapped inside.
According to New York Daily News, Caitlin had adopted Marley from an animal-hoarding situation a few years ago. She specifically chose her basement apartment because it was close to her office so she can walk Marley during her lunch breaks. When she saw the smoke coming from her building on Friday morning, she immediately rushed home but firefighters refused to let her enter her home.
The Georgia woman was inconsolable as she anxiously waited outside while firefighters fought the blaze. Then came the moment she was praying for. Firefighters had managed to rescue Marley! TV Station WSB-TV captured the emotional moment when firefighters put him in her arms.
“Oh my God! My dog! He’s alive! Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Thank you,” Caitlin cried out as she held Marley close to her. Marley was later checked over by a vet and given a clean bill of health.
The relief on Caitlin’s face when she is reunited with her beloved dog is an emotion that I’m sure all pet lovers would feel if they were in the same situation!
