April Parker and her husband were in a rush to move into their new home. Not because they wanted to start to redecorate or get their belongings inside but because there was a certain someone waiting after being left behind by the previous owners. That someone is Molly, a 10-year-old Pit Bull.
As soon as she stepped foot in her new house April went running into the backyard to find Molly. And she found her tied to a tree. April wrote on TikTok, “The people that sold our house to us left behind their 10 year old dog they had since it was a puppy. I was so stressed we wouldn’t get the house and something bad would happen to her…”

But there was Molly, next to a small crate and wagging her tail excitedly at seeing someone home.
It turns out Molly was part of the sales agreement between the Parkers and the former owners. The family had drawn up a list of the things they wanted to bring with them.
“They just didn’t want her,” April said in a TikTok. “They wanted their bee hive and tractor but not her or the cat.”
Yes, there was a cat left behind too. But more about Molly’s feline sibling later. The first thing April did upon freeing Molly was to make the dog a promise.
“We are going got make her life so good,” April wrote. “She will never be left all alone tied to a tree.”

It didn’t take long for Molly to realize the new people in her home were people to stay close to. April shared, “She’s sticking to our side. She won’t stop following us around. It’s so sweet.”

After freeing Molly, the next thing to do was to give her a bath. April and her husband didn’t know how she’d take to the water but she seemed pretty calm about it.
“[She] seemed a bit scared but relaxed overall,” April wrote on TikTok and shared a video. “ I’m sure she feels better!”

Molly loves to play and get treats too. But she does have a concerning cough that April says she’s a bit worried about, writing, “Praying we get to the bottom of the cough soon.” (Some viewers speculate that maybe Molly has heartworms? Here’s hoping not but if she does have it, we hope it’s treatable and not advanced.)

Now back to the cat. After leaving out food for the cat for a day or two, he appeared. April said that the cat won’t come into the house yet. “But I have beds on the porches and feed him every day.” She added, “I was able to get close enough to treat with flea and tick meds. I think he’s always been an outdoor cat so I’m taking baby steps to coax him in!”

The cat has taken to April’s daughter, however. “He’ll lay in my daughters lap…she’s the cat whisperer.” If their new cat decides to come in he’ll join April’s other two indoor cats. One of the cats, Joofus, already is making Molly feel a part of the family. April shared a cute video of Joofus comforting Molly during a recent thunderstorm. The cat jumped onto the bed and cuddled up next to Molly until the storm ended.

Molly may not like thunderstorms but she really loves car rides. April took her on one recently and Molly was grinning from ear to ear.

“Molly is going to have the best life!” Parker wrote on TikTok of her new family member. “She’s just so sweet.”
Isn’t it wonderful to see Molly being welcomed home at her old home by her new family? It really is “home sweet home” for Molly.
