Two kayak guides chased a seal in a herd to try and remove a plastic ring around its neck. Dramatic footage of the pair catching and wresting the seal on Walvis Bay in Namibia is going viral.
The one man first attempts to lassoo the seal with a long catch pole, but the seal is too fast, but just as it is about to slip into the water the man manages to grab it by its tail.
With help from his friend, the man pulls the large red ring stuck around the seal’s neck, which is also covered in nasty fishing line and after a few minutes manages to pop it off.
The young pup struggled with the men and growled at them as they helped but I’m sure it’s happy to have the noose off its neck.
The two kayak guides hold tours around the colony of 30,000 to 80,000 Cape Fur Seals on the bay.
