Dog Rescued From Shelter Saves Little Girl From Deadly Snake

A rescued German Shepherd paid it forward by protecting a 7-year-old girl from a deadly rattlesnake in their garden.

Molly DeLuca was playing in the garden of her Florida home with her German Shepherd, Haus, when an Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake came into the back yard.

Sensing the danger Molly was in, Haus leapt in between Molly and the pit viper to save her from the attack, but unfortunately he got bitten three times in the process.

Molly’s mom, Donya, says she saw Haus jump back and go forward and holding his ground but didn’t see the snake. The next thing they saw was Haus limping and crying with blood on his legs.

Donya says she is so grateful to Haus for protecting Molly. She’s not sure if her daughter would have made it if she had been attacked by the deadly snake.

They rushed Haus to the vet where he received expensive anti-venom treatment and is thankfully expected to recover. The family set up a GoFundMe to cover the costs, and when people heard about Haus’ bravery, they raised more than enough funds to cover his medical bills.

The DeLucas rescued Haus from an animal shelter a few months ago. Adam DeLuca, Molly’s dad, said that Haus has loved and protected the kids from the moment he came home. He can’t believe how lucky the family is to have him. “It’s just amazing what dogs can do.”

Here’s a video of dad, Adam, telling the story of Haus’ heroism.
