A lamb born in the Russian village of Chirka shocked and frightened villagers but has gone on to become a viral sensation. Russian farmer Blasius Lavrentiev was looking forward to having a lamb to sell in the Spring but was shocked when she was born with features resembling a human face.
Although many superstitious villagers were so frightened by the lamb that they accused Lavrentiev’s family of horrendous things, the town’s veterinarian had a far more scientific explanation. He believes the lamb’s condition came about because her mother got too much Vitamin A in her diet when the baby was in the womb.
One villager who wasn’t scared of the lamb commented that she was both “freaky and sweet” but admitted the baby animal scared her grandchildren. Another neighbor described the lamb as looking like “an angry old man with a big nose.”
Lavrentiev did not stay unhappy for long. He later said that he received many offers for her at 10 times the normal price. He told media outlets that he would not be selling the “little beauty” for the slaughterhouse as the interested buyers want to keep the unique-looking lamb alive.
