When I watched this footage of teenage drivers I got more and more concerned for the safety of young people on the road! AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety recently did a video analysis of teenage drivers behind the wheel and discovered some shocking results.
It turns out distraction was a factor in nearly 6 out of 10 of moderate-to-severe teen crashes, which is four times as many as official estimates based on police reports.
The majority of times teens were distracted by their mobile devices, but other clips show teens eating, putting on chapstick, changing music CDs and reading. If anything else, this video proves that multi-tasking when behind the wheel is a bad idea and could have disastrous results! Thank goodness the teens in this video only got a scare. It could have been so much worse.
