Farm Animals Rush To Protect Chicken from Hawk Attack

A hawk that thought a chicken was easy pickings got more than he bargained for when a goat and a rooster intervened to save their friend. The farm animals’ heroic actions were captured on CCTV footage on the farm of Jaap Beets.

The farmer from Gelderland, Netherlands said he was alerted to the trouble when he heard loud screams coming from the farmhouse.

When Beets later looked at security camera video he noticed a goshawk – claws extended – attempting to grab one of his chickens. The chicken struggles against the predator’s grasp, causing a plume of her feathers to fly into the air.

Noticing his friend in danger, a rooster runs straight over to help her. A minute later, a goat dashes towards the fighting animals and charges at the hawk with his head down.

Fortunately, the two farm animals were successful in scaring off the hawk! Even though the chicken lost a lot of feathers, she miraculously only had a few minor wounds.

“I was so proud of the rooster and the goat jumping in to defend our chicken. I was also very relieved that the chicken survived,” Beets told the Daily Mail.

The chicken recovered after a few days, in part thanks to her friends who kept her company after her ordeal.
