When Meredith’s foster parents told her they had some “praises and accolades that she might want to hear and videotape to watch later”, she had no way of knowing they were going to surprise her with the announcement that they wanted to adopt her into their family permanently.
The 19-year-old has had a difficult childhood. Her mother died when she was six and she never knew her father. After her grandparents looked after her for a time, she shuffled from foster home to foster home.
It was while in high school, she met and befriended her teacher Anna. Anna, 28, and her husband Zach have two children under the age of two.
Although the young mother had her hands full with her babies, Anna noticed Meredith was struggling and making poor decisions, so she invited Meredith to come live with her family temporarily. After six months, Zach and Meredith had come to a decision and sat Meredith down for a chat, one that she will remember for the rest of her life!
