Puppy Escapes Home and Gate Crashes a Soccer Game, Stealing the Show

A runaway puppy in Argentina just pulled off a performance worthy of Lionel Messi himself.

Seven-month-old Coco had already wandered about 30 blocks from home when he somehow made his way onto the field during a first-division soccer match between Rosario Central and Tigre — and instantly became the star of the game.

What followed was two minutes of absolute chaos and comedy as stadium security, players, and staff all tried and failed to catch the energetic pup. Coco zigzagged across the field, dodging everyone in sight while fans erupted into chants of “olé!” every time he juked another pursuer. At one point, more than five people were chasing him with no luck.

Eventually, Coco decided he was done entertaining the crowd and casually trotted off the field on his own terms. His owner, Julie, later revealed she recognized him immediately from a TV close-up while desperately searching for him around the neighborhood. Even funnier? Julie and Coco actually support Rosario Central’s rival team, Newell’s Old Boys — the same club where Lionel Messi once trained as a kid.

“I was working and when I got back they told me that Coco had escaped, that he hadn’t come back because sometimes he goes out in the neighborhood. I went around the neighborhood to see if I could find him. It didn’t happen,” Julie told local TV network Aire. “I came back to start advertising it, and then I see a close-up of a dog running on the field. I said, ‘That’s mine. There’s no chance it’s another dog.'”

Despite the interruption, Rosario Central scored shortly after Coco’s appearance, leaving many fans convinced the mischievous puppy may have been the team’s lucky charm.
