Man Kicks Mountain Lion Attacking His Dog Just Outside Home And Saves Her Life

Kevin and his wife love living in the hills of Southern California, but one recent afternoon their peaceful home in Glendora was shattered by blood-curdling screams from outside.

Kevin immediately ran downstairs and out the front door, where he was faced with a terrifying sight — a mountain lion had his dog, Sasha, by the head.

In a split second, instinct took over. He rushed in, shouting for the animal to get away, and fought to free his dog from the attack. The mountain lion, estimated at around 130 pounds compared to Sasha’s 95 pounds, eventually fled after Kevin intervened.

“It was just, ‘This is our child,’” he said, describing the moment he realized there was no hesitation — only action.

Kevin kicked at the animal to drive it off and managed to get Sasha to safety. Though she suffered serious bites to her head, and even had one of the mountain lion’s teeth embedded in her skull, she is thankfully expected to recover.

“Any dog lover who loves their dog would do the same thing I did. And I would do it again,” said Kevin.

Grateful his dog is alive and he wasn’t injured, Kevin is also left with concern for his neighbors, noting that the mountain lion has been seen during the daytime in the area, raising worries about ongoing safety in the community.

But for now, he and his family are simply holding Sasha a little closer after the terrifying ordeal.
