Lonely Autistic Man Calls 911 Just To Hear ‘Happy Birthday’
Just after midnight on his 25th birthday, Chris made an unusual call to the Boston Police Department. There was no emergency.
The young man, who is autistic, simply told the dispatcher, “I want someone to say happy birthday to me.”
At first, Officers Israel Bracho and Franklin Ortiz thought the call might be a prank. But after confirming it really was Chris’s birthday, they decided to make sure he didn’t have to celebrate alone.
On the way to his home, they stopped to pick up a birthday muffin and candles.
When they arrived around 12:40 a.m., they lit the candles, sang “Happy Birthday,” and celebrated with Chris before sharing a few heartfelt hugs.
The touching moment, captured on the officers’ body cameras, later went viral, reminding people that sometimes the smallest acts of kindness can mean the world to someone who feels alone.
