Woman Takes In Shelter Cat Given Only A Year To Live—He Surprises Everyone
The moment Ciara saw Roman at the shelter, she knew he belonged with her. He looked different from the other cats. Roman was missing all of his teeth, his tail, and most of his tongue. Because of his condition, she was told he might only have about a year left to live. That was four years ago.
Today, Roman is still here—proving that love, not a prognosis, can define a life. Ciara also hoped Roman would become friends with her other cat, Aria. He did. Roman adored Aria. He was fascinated by her and loved grooming her, and before long, the two had formed a special bond.
When Aria was later diagnosed with an aggressive cancer and passed away, both Ciara and Roman mourned the loss together.
Despite everything he’s been through, Roman has remained incredibly kind and affectionate. As Ciara says, he has a way of making things better simply by being himself. Roman also hasn’t forgotten the person who helped save his life. His former foster mom, Auntie Jolene, still comes to visit, and Ciara says he wouldn’t be here without her.
