Wild Deer Brings Her Fawns To Meet The Dog She’s Been Friends With For 12 Years

When Buttons was just a tiny fawn, she lost her mother after she was struck by a car. Orphaned and alone, Buttons was rescued by Lorrie Brown and her family in Branson, Missouri. With guidance from someone experienced in raising deer, they cared for the little fawn while doing everything they could to keep her wild. Their goal was never to make her a pet—it was to give her a second chance and one day return her to the forest where she belonged.

It wasn’t easy, but they succeeded. Buttons grew strong enough to live on her own in the wild. But she never forgot the family who had saved her. She especially never forgot G-bro, the family’s gentle Golden Retriever. The two had grown up together during Buttons’ rehabilitation, forming an unlikely friendship that continued long after she returned to the woods.

Buttons would often wander back to the family’s home, sometimes pawing at the front door until someone let G-bro outside. Then the two friends would spend time together, hiking the trails, playing, and simply enjoying each other’s company as if no time had passed.

Years later came the moment that amazed the family most. Buttons emerged from the woods with her newborn fawns. She had brought them to meet G-bro.

Instead of fearing the dog, the little fawns stayed close as G-bro gently greeted them. He carefully licked and groomed them, played with them, and treated them almost as if they were his own puppies. Buttons seemed completely at ease, trusting her oldest friend with the babies she treasured most.

It wasn’t a one-time visit, either.

Year after year, Buttons returned with her growing family, introducing each new generation of fawns to the Golden Retriever she had trusted since she was a baby herself.

For more than a decade, the remarkable friendship continued, touching millions of people around the world. Although both Buttons and G-bro have since passed away, their story remains a beautiful reminder that kindness can leave a lasting imprint.
