Dog Becomes Hero When Wild Rabbit Falls Into Pool

Carley Mae the German Shepherd loves watching the family of wild bunnies that live in her owner’s backyard in Kansas. While she occasionally likes to chase them, she’s never been able to get close to one — until a recent emergency changed everything.

While Carley Mae’s owner. Michelle Owens, was out of town, a friend caring for the house noticed a baby bunny struggling in the backyard pool. Before anyone could grab a pool scoop to help, Carley Mae sprang into action. The dog followed the frightened bunny along the pool’s edge and gently lifted it out of the water, saving it from drowning.

The rescued bunny quickly hopped away after reaching safety, and later camera footage revealed just how carefully Carley Mae had carried out the rescue. Even better, the little rabbit is still alive and living in the yard. For her heroic act, Carley Mae received plenty of praise, extra treats, and a well-deserved belly rub.
