K9 Officer Has Final Ride Before Retirement And His Goodbye Bark Says It All
“K9 Indy has always answered the call.” After 9 years of dedicated service, K9 Indy, a police dog, officially retired and his final ride with his partner, Sgt. Barry Sullivan, was one no one will forget.
As they drove together one last time, Sgt. Barry made a call to dispatch: a 10-42, marking an officer’s End of Watch.
What followed was a heartfelt broadcast to all units, honoring Indy’s career. Over the years, he helped seize 2 kilos of fentanyl, thousands of marijuana plants, other drugs, and more than $300,000 in drug money. He took part in 11 SWAT deployments, assisted in 44 criminal apprehensions, and spent time visiting schools as a beloved community ambassador.

Then came the moment. “You are 10-42 for the final time.”
Sgt. Barry gave Indy a well-deserved pat and told him he’d done a good job and Indy responded the only way he knew how — with happy licks to the face.

And just when you think it couldn’t get more perfect, Sgt. Barry asked, “What do you say?” Indy answered with one final, joyful bark.
End of watch… and the beginning of a well-earned retirement.
