Bald Eagle and Fox Spotted Hanging Out on a Picnic Table Like Old Friends

While driving near his home in Dutch Harbor, Alaska, Rene Rivera and a few friends spotted an unforgettable sight. A wild fox and a bald eagle were sharing a picnic table as if they were old friends.

The two animals quietly sat together, a respectful distance, both calm and showing no concern about the other. The pair has actually become something of a local attraction, often showing up together to snack on leftovers people leave behind.

The peaceful encounter may look like an unlikely friendship, but wildlife experts say it’s not as surprising as it seems. Bald eagles mostly eat fish and are very unlikely to prey on a healthy adult fox, while a fox isn’t about to take on a bald eagle. Instead, the two animals likely became comfortable visiting the same spot independently and simply learned to tolerate each other’s presence.
