Firefighters Rescue Puppy from Rubble of Deadly Earthquakes in Venezuela

Amid the devastation left behind by Venezuela’s powerful earthquakes, rescuers found a small sign of hope buried beneath the rubble.

As firefighters searched through the remains of a collapsed building in Caracas, they suddenly heard faint yelps coming from beneath the debris.

Carefully digging through the wreckage, members of the Caracas Fire Department reached a frightened puppy that had somehow survived the disaster. Video captured by journalist Román Camacho shows the emotional moment rescuers gently lifted the little dog to safety before offering it a drink of water after its terrifying ordeal.

“Here are the rescue teams that have just pulled a small dog out from the rubble where it was trapped,” Camacho said while filming. “Capital District firefighters—always the heroes in stories like this—are working tirelessly to extract survivors from the debris.”

The puppy, which had been trapped beneath the collapsed building in Caracas’s Pinto Salinas neighborhood, was treated at the scene before being taken into the care of the Caracas Fire Department.

The rescue came after two powerful earthquakes struck Venezuela less than a minute apart, killing more than 589 people and injuring more than 1000 others as widespread destruction unfolded across the region.

While rescue crews continued searching the rubble for survivors, this tiny dog’s rescue offered a brief but powerful reminder that even in the darkest moments, hope can still be found.
