Stressed Kitten Stopped Eating At The Shelter, But One Foster Family Saved Him

When a tiny kitten named Bug arrived at the Michiana Humane Society, he was overwhelmed with fear. The stress hit him so hard that he stopped eating and would press his face against the cage until he was rubbing his fur off.

As his anxiety worsened, staff grew worried he might hurt himself. They knew he needed something more than a shelter environment. He needed a home, even if just for a little while. So they reached out to Rachel, one of their foster caregivers.

Rachel didn’t hesitate. She brought Bug home, hoping a quieter space would help him heal. And it did.

Even more surprising? Her husband — a self-proclaimed dog person — quickly fell for the tiny, fragile kitten. Just a few days in, the decision was made:
“We’re keeping him for sure.”

From that moment on, everything changed for Bug.

Now, he’s a completely different cat — happy, playful, and full of life. He spends his days running around with his feline siblings, fitting right in with the rest of the family. And right by his side is his biggest supporter, his “dad,” who never expected to fall in love with a little cat who just needed a chance.

Bug’s story is a powerful reminder that sometimes, all it takes is a safe place and a little compassion to turn fear into joy.
