They Used A Hidden Camera And Followed This Woman Walking In The City. The Results? Shocking.

A video of a woman being catcalled on the streets of New York went viral by highlighting the impact of street harassment on the lives of women in the city. After Rob Bliss noticed his girlfriend getting street harassed all the time, he approached the anti-street harassment group Hollaback! about making a PSA video.

Shoshana Roberts volunteered and wearing black jeans and a t-shirt she walked through the streets of New York city over a 10-hour period. A male Hollaback! member was secretly filming Shoshana as he walked in front of her with a hidden camera in his backpack. She walked silently with two mics in her hand.

During the 10 hours, Shoshana was catcalled 108 times and that didn’t include the “countless winks and whistles” she also received. Shoshana noted, “I’m harassed when I smile and I’m harassed when I don’t. I’m harassed by white men, black men, latino men. Not a day goes by when I don’t experience this.”

Shockingly, Shoshana has received threats of rape from some YouTube commenters react to the video. Hollaback! says that the threats are being reported and deleted.
