A few days ago, Erin was driving in what she called a “rough part of town” when she found a cattle dog mix on the streets. The dog looked in bad shape. He was covered in fleas, had open wounds on his ears and backside, was malnourished and was wearing an embedded collar.
“He’s a bag of bones” and “torn up” Erin said in the TikTok video she shared of the dog’s first night at her home.

She said she had to use her fingernails to separate the collar from his skin. Next up was a bath because of all the fleas which wasn’t a fun experience for either of them. By the time the bath was over, it was 2am in the morning and Erin went to get some dog supplies and dog food from her aunt. After eating, her newfound friend “chilled” in her laundry room and he was so tired he almost fell asleep in her hand.
The next morning, Erin took the dog – who is now named Bingo – to her aunt to check if he had a microchip (her aunt works in dog rescue). He didn’t. She also searched online locally and statewide to see if anyone was missing a cattle dog mix but did not find anything.
She also noted that Bingo’s teeth were worn down and almost looked like they were filed down. She says he hasn’t got many teeth (they are missing or worn down to the gums but the ones he has are pretty clean). This is a sign of a bait dog but can also be a sign that he lived his life on a chain.

One viewer noted, “He was probably a bait dog for fighting based on his teeth being filled down. Thank you for rescuing him!” Erin responded, “It could be a lot of things but that is definitely a good guess.”
Other viewers thought Bingo was likely chained. “His teeters could be like that if he was left on a chain and tries chewing his way to freedom,” wrote one viewer. “You’re gonna be a great dog mom!” Another viewer said, “Our dog had her teeth ground down too… he may have been a breeder dog that they just kept in a kennel and ground down the teeth from that.”
After having Bingo for a few days, Erin is leaning more towards Bingo having been chained up. Erin answered, “I’m leaning towards he was a breeder dog and got dumped because he’s old. Or chewed on the kennel or chain enough to escape.”
Whatever Bingo’s background, Erin is focused on keeping him safe and warm and loved. She commented on her TikTok channel that her previous dog was a Belgian Malinois / cattle dog mix that she found at a dumpster. So it sure seems like Bingo has lucked out in more way than one – not only has he got a new mom but he’s got a mom who has experience with his high energy breed!

Erin says Bingo is definitely not good on leash (despite what it looks like in the videos) but he is not aggressive or dog reactive that she can tell. He’s definitely got some hearing loss and maybe some problems seeing. But she plans on getting Bingo neutered when he’s healthier because right now she does not think he’s in good enough shape to be put under anesthesia.
So for now he’s getting good food, will get all his vaccinations shortly and has a full vet check up booked. And after a few days at his new home, Bingo is really settling in, as you will see in Erin’s follow up video.

One thing Erin is certain of is that she’s happy she found him and that he “found her.”
