Tugboat Crew Helps Free Baby Seal Stuck In A Log Boom
A mother seal desperately tried to free her seal pup after he got stuck in a log jam in British Columbia. The poor baby had slipped between two logs and couldn’t free himself and was struggling to get out. Thankfully, Max and Eric, two Canadian tugboat workers, noticed the baby animal in danger and came to the rescue. But it wasn’t easy.
At first they tried to pry the massive logs apart using poles so that the mama could pull the pup out. But when that didn’t work, one of the men approached the pup and pulled him out. Watch their amazing rescue below.

The mama wanted to pull her pup right into the water but the pup was obviously tired and wanted to rest a bit longer before going into the water.
This type of situation is distressing for the seal, and dangerous for humans. Thankfully, Max and Eric both have the experience, authority, and tools to traverse log jams. Note: This should not be attempted by people without experience.
Tugboat crews often handle log booms as part of their jobs, which involves tying up and moving log rafts and barges in waterways. And they often spot seals as the animals frequently rest on log jams, as Max revealed in an earlier video he posted to social media.
The British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BC SPCA) advises not to approach seals but to contact them if the seal appears injured, skinny, or lethargic.
