Stray Dog With Jar Stuck On Her Head For Weeks Is Learning What Kindness Is

A skinny stray dog with a jar stuck over her head didn’t have much time left. For weeks, Winnie was wandering around unable to eat or drink. Bonnie Flight Project, a dog rescue in Guam, knew they had to hurry to save her.

Thankfully, their volunteers successfully caught her with a net and she was very docile. Once she was safe, rescuers had to figure out how to get the bucket off her head. Fortunately, it popped off really easily. Although Winnie was dehydrated and emaciated she did not have any other health issues so she went into foster care.

But Winnie wasn’t trusting. She wanted to interact with people – she’d go into a full body wiggle – but she was very timid. Her foster family worked with her for two and a half months. Bonnie Flight Project knew that Winnie needed a home where she could continue to learn how to heal and trust and she found one with Mary.

Winnie moved the the United States and lives on a farm and has formed an attachment with one of Mary’s other dogs. Winnie has slowly opened up and is now a part of the pack.
