Man Creates Spectacular Art In The Snow By Walking For Up To 12 Hours At A Time

Simon Beck is the world’s first and most famous “snow artist”. His creations are made by snowshoeing over large areas of fresh snow on the sides of mountains, ski hills, and frozen lakes. He treks in the snow for up to 12 hours at a time and walks between 12 and 19 miles (20 and 30 km), to create his beautiful and intricate geometric forms in the snow!

Simon began to make his snow art after a day of skiing in 2004. He got the idea to draw a star on a small frozen lake outside of his home.

He discovered the activity combined his passion for outdoor physical activity and his love of geometric drawings. Soon, he was creating more and more complex creations. He now covers an area between 1 to 4 hectares (roughly corresponding to 2 to 8 soccer fields) for one of his snow art works.

To get a full sense of their grandeur, you need to get an “eagle-eye” view from on top of a snowy mountain or riding a ski lift and looking down.

Simon shared photos of his artwork with Reshareworthy.com, and we’re sure you’ll find them as breathtaking as we did!
