Rescued Husky Who Wouldn’t Howl Finds His Voice With Foster Family

Ryker the Husky was skin and bones when he arrived at his foster mom’s house. The dog had been surrendered to a vet for euthanasia but fate intervened. He wasn’t going to suffer any longer but he was going to live.

Hillary, who has fostered over a thousand dogs, took the emaciated and mange-riddled husky into her home. She said that “it was mind-blowing that he had any spirit at all” given the shape he was in.

He was so poorly off that he wouldn’t howl or chat with his humans or other dogs, unlike most Huskies. After prolonged abuse and neglect he wasn’t talking. Then, one day, Ryker let out a deep, rumbly howl in front of Hillary. It turns out Ryker just needed a caring, loving home to find his voice again.

The minute Ryker remembered “how to husky” touched Hillary deeply. Months of nursing continued and Ryker’s fur grew back and his loving personality continued to shine through. Now all he needed was a perfect home to go to and, fortunately, Mike and Donna fit the bill.

Ryker now has a Husky brother who he got along with the moment they met. And Hillary rests easy knowing that Ryker is now where he belongs.
