Reba McEntire’s Video Tribute To Her Late Father Tugs On The Heartstrings

Reba McEntire and her family traveled often due to her father’s occupation as a World Champion Steer Roper. When he recently passed away, she wrote the song, “Just Like Them Horses” for him and played it at his funeral.

After her producer heard the song, he thought it should be included on her latest album. When shooting the new video for the song, it too, became a goodbye tribute to her late father.

Reba included her mother, Jackie, as her co-star in the new video and shot it entirely on the McEntire ranch in Chockie, OK. “Those old hills mean a lot to me,” Reba said. “I lived there 21 years and they still call me back time after time.”

Reba says the song is about “goodbye, closure and letting go”. “My favorite line of the song is, ‘Just like them horses, now it’s time to run.’ He did. He ran all the way to heaven,” Reba says of her father. “Just like them horses.”
