Woman Rescues Pit Bull Left Tied to Pole in Freezing Cold

A month ago, a young Pit Bull named Lentil was found abandoned on the streets. He had been tied to a pole in Brooklyn, New York, and left in the freezing cold.

Rain or Shine Rescue was contacted for help, and with the assistance of Sarah, a local animal rescuer, they quickly arranged an emergency foster home. Lentil’s sweet and calm nature won everyone over, and after a few nights, he moved in with Sarah and her cranky cat, Barbara.

“We spent some quality time together,” Sarah said in a video for The Dodo. “I immediately fell madly in love with him.”

Sarah deeply wanted to adopt Lentil, but it wasn’t meant to be — Barbara just couldn’t warm up to him. Determined to find him a loving home, Sarah and Rain or Shine Rescue set out to find the perfect family.

Fortunately, it didn’t take long. Lentil quickly found a family who was instantly smitten with him.

Sarah drove Lentil to his new home. Saying goodbye was hard, but she knew it was for the best.

“[H]e’s left a huge hole in both my and Barbara’s hearts,” she shared in a video. “[But] we know he’s going to be the happiest and most spoiled in his new incredible home.”

Now, Lentil has everything he could want — a spacious backyard to run and play in, and a family who dotes on him.
