Man Puts On ‘Cone Of Shame’ To Help His Grandpup Feel Better

Most dog lovers will tell you that their pups don’t like wearing Elizabethan collars – otherwise known as the Cone of Shame. The domed collars are obviously uncomfortable and make it difficult for a dog to see, navigate and eat.

It’s the rare dog who can make the Cone of Shame “work for them.” Sometimes pet parents will attempt to “accessorize” the Cone of Shame, but that doesn’t do much to cheer up their dog.

But when Ollie, a chocolate Labrador, recently had minor surgery and had to put on a Cone of Shame, his owner’s dad tried something different to cheer the dog up. Alex reveals that her father put one one himself.

Alex walked in the pair bonding on the couch and filmed the adorable moment.

“Not my dad wearing a cone to make my dog feel less lonely after his surgery,” Alex captioned her TikTok video on @good.boy.ollie.

She captioned further, “I swear it’s always the dad who didn’t want a dog that end up loving them the most.”

The cute clip has gotten several million views, with many commenting how thoughtful grandpa is.

Alex later told the Dodo that Ollie seemed to feel a lot better after his grandparent’s thoughtful gesture.

“Ollie definitely seemed a little happier,” Alex said. Ollie has since recovered fully and no longer needs the Cone. Alex shared that her dad and dog happily no longer need to wear the cones. “They’re both cone-free now. Ollie only had to wear it for a week. My dad only lasted a few hours!”

And by the by, Alex also improved Ollie’s cone of shame with some fun variations: fries, flowers and martini. Ollie is such good sport and looks pretty happy showing of his cone’s accessories.
