Man Finds Puppy Shivering in the Freezing Cold Under Car at Hotel

This past February, Robert Saligman stopped at a hotel for the night in Wyoming and came away with an unexpected surprise… a puppy! He was getting ready for bed when he noticed his phone was about to run out of battery, so he went to get his phone charger. It was 14 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 10 Celsius) and windy when he heard a whimpering noise outside. He ignored it at first, but when he heard it again, he turned around and saw a puppy cowering under a car.

“I looked around. I was alone in the parking lot. I called out to the pup. He was terrified of me and wouldn’t leave from underneath the car. I went back inside to get a jacket and some food to try and lure him out. Back outside, I searched around the snowy hotel. There were no paw prints or trace of this puppy coming from anywhere. The hotel was in the middle of a wide open field with only a major interstate nearby,” Saligman wrote on Instagram.

After a few minutes, he managed to catch the cold, frightened pup. The puppy was clean and had a collar but had he been abandoned? Saligman feared so.

“I had a sinking feeling this little guy was left out there to die,” he wrote.

He went to the hotel manager to ask if anyone had checked in with a pet, but no one had. After getting permission to keep the puppy in his room for the night, Saligman went to sleep with the pup curled up in the crook of his arm the whole night.

The next morning, they visited the nearest vet, who confirmed the puppy had no microchip. So the next stop was the local shelter. Saligman admitted it was difficult to say goodbye. He told shelter staff that if no one came to claim the pup, he might be interested in adopting him.

Two weeks later, he got the call Bubble was his if he wanted him.

When Saligman returned to the shelter to pick him up, Bubble remembered him immediately. And as for who was more excited, Bubble or his new dad, that’s still up for debate. Now the pair go on lots of adventures together, like their recent trip to Chicago.

Bubbles isn’t the first time he’s found a stray dog. A few months before finding Bubbles he spent the morning with Big Horn. But thankfully, Big Horn had a family who was missing him. When Saligman went to the shelter Big Horn had a microchip and he was reunited with his family.
