A Peek Inside The Dog Friendliest Office You Will Ever See

Dog product company Kurgo wanted a larger work space for its growing company and decided to build the office in their old 4,000 square foot warehouse! They didn’t want to be just some chairs and desks in a cavernous space. They wanted to build the “coolest office we’ve ever seen”. And the other major prerequisite? It had to be dog friendly. Or as they like to call it the “best doghouse ever”.

So they set to work. Using recycled steel shipping containers, wood recovered from Maine rivers (from the 1800s no less) and a few unusual touches made the place feel like home to Kitter and Gordie Spater, the two brothers who founded the Massachusetts-based company.

Cubicles are together for an open-concept, collaborative work space. Many of the design touches bring the outdoors inside.

Seating includes the first double chair lift from Sugarbush, the mountain ski resort in Vermont.

And suspended from the ceiling is the Spater brothers’ great grandfather’s canoe.

There’s also a slide if you don’t want to use the stairs and some playground equipment (like the rocking horse). The kitchen stores plenty of snacks for dogs and humans alike.

Naturally, most employees have dogs and are encouraged to bring them to work. As a company that sells gear for traveling and active dogs, Kurgo encourages employees to enjoy the great outdoors.

The bathrooms at the office even have special shower stalls installed to wash off a dog’s muddy paws!

There are also “ground-level” faucets for filling doggie water bowls.

The dogs are not only office-morale boosters, they are sometimes hands-on product testers.

There are always plenty of toys lying around to play with and work areas for staff to design and test their products.

I don’t know about you, but this office space makes me just a wee bit jealous!

Here’s a video of the office after it was completed.

And here is a time-lapse of it under construction.
