Artist Takes Glass Coca-Cola Bottles And Makes Gorgeous Chandeliers

Kathleen Plate likes to take garbage and make it into something beautiful. The artist was approached by Chick-fil-A to come up with a decor item for their restaurants that would focus on sustainability and together they came up with the idea for glass chandeliers made from classic glass Coca-Cola bottles!

Kathleen cuts each bottle in half with a special diamond cutter and then melts the bottles down into flat shapes. She then carefully affixes each bottle to a sheet of glass with a special glue.

“People might see these and think they are made in a factory or by a machine. But they are actually made by my hands, one by one,” she explains. “I think it’s such a testament to Chick-fil-A’s commitment to that handcrafted nature and wanting to have that in each on of their stores.”

The resulting lights are quite modern and beautiful. I would never guess they were made from recycled bottles unless I took a closer look and saw the Coke labels!

Share these cool chandeliers with your family and friends!
