Stolen Dog Nearly Died From Abuse, His Emotional Reunion With His Human Made Everyone Cry

The reunion between this Pit Bull and her human had me in tears. A young Pit Bull named Ryder was found severely abused and was reunited with her owner after it was discovered the dog had been stolen months earlier.

Ryder won people’s hearts when she first arrived at Arizona Humane Society (AHS). The 2-year-old Pit Bull was rescued by Phoenix Police officers during a domestic disturbance call. They found her in pitiful shape. She was tied to the door knob of a door with a large chain around her neck. Only her hind feet could touch the floor and she had no water or food. She was severely emaciated and near death.

In the loving hands of the Arizona Humane Society, Ryder slowly recovered and a few months later the shy, gentle dog was ready to be adopted. It was then discovered that Ryder had been stolen and her original owner located.

Police said their investigation revealed that Ryder was taken from her original owner by someone she knew, expecting that Ryder would be returned to her. But instead (and unknown to Ryder’s owner at the time), Ryder was taken from the acquaintance by a third person. This third person ended up being the alleged abuser and police charged the woman with felony animal abuse.

“As you can imagine, she [Ryder’s original owner] is horrified by the abuse that Ryder suffered and is eager to get her baby back home,” wrote the AHS on their website. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room when Ryder was reunited with her owner.
