Dog With All Four Legs Tied Up Crawls From Roadside to a Safe Home

A small dog with all four legs tied up and left to die by the side of a Florida road is miraculously alive after crawling to a home for help.

The bound dog somehow managed to free one of his legs and then crawled to a nearby home in Ruskin. The homeowner found the dog on their porch and gave the dog water and contacted Hillsborough County Animal Control. They took a photo of the dog how they found him.

“Hard to believe that somebody would just throw a healthy dog, the dog is healthy, put it on the side of the road like that, and not give it a chance for survival,” said Roger Mills, the Division Director for Animal Control told WFLA News. “It’s bad enough that you dump your dog, which is against the law, but you don’t want it to survive because you bound its legs together.”

The 2-year-old dog has heartworm and scrapes from crawling to safety but is otherwise in good health. He’s also friendly and seems unphazed from his ordeal letting shelter staff to hold him.

“He’s a very sweet dog. You know, to allow me to pick him up like this within 24 hours of what went on, that’s kind of surprising that he’s that trusting,” said Lori Latzring with Hillsborough County Animal Services.

There is now an investigation into finding the person who abandoned the dog, which is considered a third-degree felony in Florida. Authorities will be offering a cash reward through Crimestoppers. In the meantime the pup will remain at the shelter until he is ready for adoption.
