Paul Tilghmon and Heather Johnson found the small dog on December 30, 2014 and described how they found her on Facebook: “Poor little girl, Heather and I found her beaten and abused with a rope tied around her her neck so tight that once we gave her some food she was choking and couldn’t swallow. Her head was swollen from lack of circulation. Eyes swollen shut, full of pus… Fulton County Animal Services came and picked her up…”

A day later, the dog was rescued by Second Chance Rescue NYC and named Cheers.

Cheers had difficulty swallowing and eating because of the rope that had been tied around her neck.

The sweet dog is thought to be a Boston Terrier/Pit Bull mix and to be around 18 months old.

Thankfully the swelling subsided.

Cheers is currently in vet care and the swelling has gone down, but she still has a way to got until she is better. Second Chance Rescue NYC plans for her to go into foster care when she is better.

The rescue is putting out a call for fosters, not just for Cheers, but for other dogs at their rescue. Visit their website to find out more about how to help.
