Dog Gives Curious Whale Shark A Kiss After It Swims Up To Boat

A woman out diving had a once-in-a-lifetime encounter with a whale shark. More accurately, her dog Sailor did.

Jade Pursell was diving with a friend off Ningaloo Reef, Australia, when they came across the giant fish. But the friendly whale shark didn’t approach them in the water. Instead, he swam over to Pursell’s 12 foot tinny with her 8-year-old Labrador Retriever onboard.

The pair of animals touched noses in an incredible exchange which Pursell was lucky enough to captured on video.

In the special encounter, the inquisitive 22-foot-long whale shark swims to the stern of the boat and lifts his head out of the water as if to say “hello” to the canine. For his part, Sailor is also intensely curious and immediately moves to get a closer look at his visitor, leaning over the boat to give the fish a sniff and an unexpected kiss!

“I was so happy. To see Sailor meet a whale shark, I honestly just felt overjoyed,” Pursell told People via SWNS. “Animals are incredible, and it couldn’t have gone any better.”
