Celebrity Rescue Dog Finally Home After Surviving Streets, Storms And Shooting
A rescue dog who escaped twice and survived months on the streets of New Orleans is finally safe. The tiny terrier mix named Scrim endured hurricanes, blizzards, traffic, fireworks, and even gunshots – earning him celebrity status for his resilience.

In April, Michelle Chermaie of Zeus’ Rescues saved Scrim from euthanasia at a shelter, but he escaped from foster care and spent 177 days on the run. His GPS collar died, but locals tracked his movements until he was finally found in November. Despite being shot, he recovered, and the New Orleans City Council honored him for his bravery.

Days later, Scrim pulled off another daring escape—jumping from a second-story window, squeezing through a gate, and vanishing once again.
Michelle later explained on The Tamron Hall Show that Scrim suffered from “lost dog syndrome,” making him constantly flee, though he is affectionate indoors.
During his second escape, Scrim endured freezing temperatures and snowstorms, and near misses with streetcars. Once again, the community came together, sending Michelle updates every day. Finally, last week, she received a text she had been waiting for: “Caught Scrim.”
Now back in Michelle’s care, Scrim is safe with extra safeguards in place, including a new GPS collar and an AirTag.
Scrim is finally home—hopefully for good this time.
