Brave Dog Extinguishes Lit Dynamite Thrown Into Her Family’s Home
A dog thwarted tragedy after she miraculously extinguished an explosive thrown into her family’s home. A stick of dynamite was thrown into a journalist’s home in Huaral, Peru, but the dog chewed out the fuse before it exploded.
The victim, journalist Carlos Mesías Zárate told La Republica, that he suspects the criminal act was in response to his investigative work.

Security cameras caught the terrifying moment when Mesías’s dog, Manchis, began barking at an intruder outside of the home. Cameras captured a man lighting and throwing an explosive device inside the home. Manchis runs down the stairs after the stick of dynamite was thrown and put out the lit fuse with her teeth.
Mesías was surprised to find the explosive device lying on the floor of the small passageway and immediately contacted police who told him not to touch anything. Upon reviewing their security footage the family noticed the man had arrived on a motorcycle taxi.

“They left him on a corner, he walked up to my house, lit the fuse, and threw it through the top of the door, which has a protected window that had been broken recently. He puts his hand in, throws the dynamite, and still looks out to see if it’s still lit,” Mesías told the news outlet.

A special explosives disposal unit from police arrived and removed the dynamite and is conducting an investigation. Mesías and his family have requested protection. Manchis is doing fine and no doubt being rewarded for her heroism.
