Leandro was heartbroken when Mili, the family’s dog, went missing from their home in Brazil. The young boy’s family searched for Mili for days but they couldn’t find any trace of her.
What they didn’t know was that in another part of town a local firefighter, Juninho Giugni, had been alerted about a little dog wandering on the streets. The dog was wearing a clean sweater and seemed to be looking for someone. So he went and got her and it was Mili.
Suspecting Mili was a family pet, he kept her until he could find their family. After asking around town, he learned from the Civil Defense of Várzea Paulista that Leandro’s family had been desperately searching for a dog. Soon he was on his way to return Mili home.
He drove to the family’s home where Leandro sat on the sidewalk, anxiously waiting. What follows was a magical reunion. As soon as Leandro had Mili in his arms, he hugged her, crying in relief.
Giugni shared a video on Facebook of the happy reunion.
“We were thrilled,” Giugni told the Dodo of reuniting the family with Mili. “Leandro told us that we saved the family.”
“Every day, I rescue animals,” Giugni said. “This one was special.”
