Biker’s Confrontation With Woman Texting And Driving Sparks Road Rage Incident

A motorcyclist captured a scary texting and driving encounter that he had on his helmet cam which resulted in the driver being charged with distracted driving.

Motorcyclist Erik Hanna was out driving when he noticed an SUV wasn’t moving at a green light. Despite Hanna and a few other motorists honking their horns, the driver allegedly refused to budge because she was too busy on her mobile phone. When the light turned back red, Hanna pulled his bike along side the SUV and began filming with his helmet cam.

“I noticed a car stopped 50ft from the line at a red light and did not move when the light turned green,” explained Hanna in the video’s description. “Went into the other lane and noticed the driver was still sitting on her cell phone. At the next light she did the same thing so I started recording. Pulled beside her to get her attention and tell her to put the phone down, she ignored me and I went around her when she didn’t go on the green light again.”

He attempted to confront her, but continued on his way only to be abruptly cut off by the driver. “After a few seconds she passes by me within inches of my motorcycle and then brake checks me down the road,” Hanna said.

In the video, Hanna can be heard telling the woman to go to the police station and that he has the entire incident on camera. Hanna told Canadian media outlets that he ended up following her for a while longer but eventually gave up as he did not feel it was safe. He later turned the footage in to police and posted it online, where it quickly went viral.

Since then, police in Ottawa, Canada (where the incident occurred), announced they tracked down the driver and have laid three charges against her.
