Ever dropped your keys in an impossible spot, like down a drain or in an elevator? It’s not fun to try and get them back and often you need help. Luh Meira found herself in a similar predicament recently, but she was unexpectedly assisted by a furry neighbor.
Meira was with her 2-year-old son outside of their apartment in Brazil when he dropped her keys down a concrete hole while playing. She panicked as the keys were for their house! She immediately tried to reach for the keys but the hole was too small to be able to reach inside and pull them out. That’s when the neighbor’s black cat, Pantera, appeared.
Pantera was curious as to what Meira was up to and came over to investigate what all the fuss was about. He noticed Meira poking a stick down the hole, trying to hook her keys. That’s when he thought he’d give it a try, as you’ll see in the TikTok video below:

A stunned Meira wrote on Facebook [translated] afterwards, “And they say that a black cat is bad luck…If it hadn’t been filmed, no one would believe it.” Pantera reached his paws into the hole and cleverly lifted the keys out for her, as if he totally understood what she needed help doing!
Meira told Amomeupet later that Pantera got the keys very quickly. “He was already there playing in the grass and then he came and started putting his paw in,” she said. “It was very quick for him to get the key, it was in a matter of seconds. I believe in 20 seconds he got that key.”
Meira’s video quickly went viral, garnering millions of views with countless viewers very impressed by the cat’s smarts. Meira said that she made sure to reward Pantera for his good deed and gave him a new toy and treats, adding, “He won my love.”
